Tony Essam - Consultant

A career railwayman of almost 30 years I have considerable experience in delivering operational solutions for both front line teams and as a key project interface. I pride myself on my pragmatic, no nonsense approach to problem solving, being able to find acceptable solutions when options are limited and time is constrained. I work well with teams and have established a network of trusted contacts within the rail industry, exploiting my ability to form good working relationships.

Experience:

Network Operations

Following almost 20 years in front line operations I moved into an operations management role at Marylebone, and spent 4 pleasurable years supporting Chiltern Railways as one of the highest performing train operating companies in the UK. This role was both challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

Projects & Engineering

I have worked as an operational interface and member of the senior team on projects Evergreen and the East West Rail, acting as the key project interface for all operational activities, these activities include: Signal sighting, Level Crossing safety, train movements, timetable planning, Common Safety Methods and interoperability, possession planning, document review and publications. I spent a year as the National Lead for projects related to automated signalling. This role gave me considerable experience in the delivery of electronic signalling projects.

I spent a year as the National Lead for projects related to automated signalling. This role gave me a unique understanding of electronic signalling systems used throughout the UK and the automated systems used (ARS, SARS, IRS).
