Thursday 6th March saw myself and AARC Professional Services colleagues Mick Gates and Nigel Barber meeting the great and good when we attended our first event of the year, staged by Rail Infrastructure Networking (RIN) at London’s Business Design Centre.
If you’ve read our previous blogs, you’ll already be aware of RIN and its programme of events. If not, here’s a brief reminder. The events are the brainchild of rail specialist insurance broker Jobson James Rail, with the specific aim of bringing together colleagues from the rail infrastructure industry for a variety of networking opportunities. What sets them apart from other such events however is the lack of speeches or presentations, enabling attendees more time to find out about each others’ respective businesses, helping to identify potential opportunities and making useful connections for the future. Held quarterly at locations across the country, the events are aimed at companies of all sizes and are a cost effective way of strengthening your contact base.
Here at AARCPS, we first dipped our collective toe in the RIN ‘pond’ when attending its Derby event in September 2024. Having liked what we saw, we took the decision to book onto all of RIN’s events in 2025, starting in London, with future events to be held in Glasgow on 22nd May, Derby on 11th September and Harrogate on 13th November.
As for the London event itself, it was another well organised experience, with myself, Mick and Nigel engaged in some great conversations with a number of delegates. As at Derby, it proved to be the ideal opportunity for likeminded businesses to meet, share stories, identify opportunities and discuss key issues affecting the industry, and subsequently, the broader supply chain. In addition to the RIN events, AARCPS will also be exhibiting at Rail Link in Dublin on 10th April. The first of its kind, the event is similar to RIN in that it doesn’t feature presentations etc, instead enabling attendees to spend their time connecting with industry colleagues.
