Experience:

Railway Operations

Engaged as a Senior Consultant to provide an assessment report, commissioned by RfLI’s Head of Maintenance, on the readiness of RfLI Maintenance organisation to become infrastructure maintainer for the Elizabeth Line.  Acting as RfLI’s Head of Maintenance representative I facilitated understanding of the RfLI business requirements for the integration of the fault management function across systems.

Responsible for writing Network Rail’s business Concept of Operations for Electrical Control and latterly Anglia Route Maintenance Strategy for Traffic Management, I established department Head and subject matter expert requirements and aspirations, before gaining business approval.

Working on the National SCADA Renewals programme for traction power electrical control across Network Rail’s infrastructure I was the operational lead in the tender assessment process, establishing criteria, bid assessment, interviews and recommendations.  In working with the successful contractor I established the operational migration plan and agreed an implementation plan with the Routes.  Working with the end user groups to establish the best system design to achieve consistent operational and maintenance use, whilst managing the operational deliverables and compliance for training development, future work processes, ergonomic task and workload assessments.

Projects and Engineering

As Maintenance Interface Manager on Digital Railway’s 1st Deployment Traffic Management System I assisted in the development of supplier and service provider support requirements through to successful contract award.

As the Sponsor's Representative for the National SCADA Renewals Project I dealt with authority and GRIP requirements, plus scope change requests including managing the development of BAU solution for system management within the various business areas of NR.

As Operations Interface Manager on the National SCADA Renewals Project, in addition to carrying out day to day integration of system delivery with end user needs, I produced the Operations elements of the authority estimate, assisted in establishing OJEU notification and completing PQQ evaluation.

Safety & Assurance

As Maintenance Interface Manager on Digital Railway’s 1st Deployment Traffic Management System I was the maintenance representative in the production of the Safety Assurance Report.  This involved attendance at Hazids, Hazans, ergonomic operational reviews and production of the hazard log.

In delivering the National SCADA Renewal Project's operations & maintenance safety assurance I was a subject matter expert involved in the production of the safety case and supporting documents, e.g. system context, Hazids, Hazans.

Training & Development

Whilst Maintenance Interface Manager for Digital Railway’s 1st Deployment Traffic Management System (TMS) programme I led a joint maintainer/project/supplier team working collaboratively to successfully deliver the training and competency required.  This included the identification of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, the development of a training plan, production of course materials for trainer and trainee, build of a training rig, plus the BAU requirements.  This required NR corporate approval body acceptance before being delivered.

Change Management

As part of the RfLI maintenance mobilisation team I produced the T-minus timeline of deliverables and outcomes to achieve ‘Maintenance Ready’ for systems.  This also required being the Maintenance Readiness representative interfacing with the Crossrail’s Control Centre Integration team.

On Digital Railway’s 1st Deployment Traffic Management System programme I was responsible for defining the future maintenance work processes, providing a mapping to existing, and identifying the business change requirements.  This required the production of both fault response/resolution processes and change management engagement process for the Route Maintainer’s working with service providers and suppliers.  This led to overseeing the delivery of the same for NR’s Thameslink TMS.

As Programme Manager in NR’s energy network department I delivered the creation of NR's 'Configuration Management Strategy for Intelligent E&P Assets', including national design panel acceptance.
